The composition of the painting is closed, or more precisely - apparently open. The picture shows a window behind which you can see an approaching subway train, you can also see a falling comet - a sign of wars. The second element that proves the apparent opening of the painting is the open door to the room. The dominant color in this room is dark red, and the clown sits with his back to the people having fun. When it comes to light, it is clear that some parts of the image are intensely illuminated, however, no light source has been placed anywhere in the image. The first of these places is a racked table and the documents lying on it - the light shining on this part of the picture is yellow and bright. The light falling on the right part, in turn, is much darker, blood-red, which may be characterized by darkness and indifference to the affairs of the state. The picture is very static - the Clown is frozen as if frozen in thought.
